About the Artist
I'm Sam Redles, a traditional sign painter living and operating my business Human Made Signs & Murals here in Baltimore City. I am passionate about creating unique and eye-catching hand-designed signs and murals. With a love for experimentation, I have worked on various surfaces including wood, fiberglass, brick, glass, corrugated metal, and more. No challenge is too big for me! Each project is approached with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to bringing a vision to life.Featured Work

Dorney Park Carousel Restoration
paint and sculpture
ongoing
Restoration of the 102 year old Dentzel Carousel's upper rounding boards. Removal of all dirt and grime. Sanding and repairing the plaster uppers by replicating the broken pieces to resemble the original crafts person-ship. Then priming and painting the boards with one shot enamels. This is not an exact restoration. Meaning the colors are not the original colors based on scientific testing of the paint and gilds. I am mimicking the style of the time and painting it to have to look and feel of an old carousel without the intense and expensive process of taking each layer of paint off and testing to determine the original colors.
Welcome to Bethlehem Mural
acrylic on alumalite panels
The design was inspired by the vintage postcards your mom used to send your aunt while on vacation. I painted this Live at the largest free music festival in the United States, Musikfest, over the course of 11 days. It was painted on panels and a custom frame was built to allow ArtsQuest the opportunity to store and set it up for their many festivals during the year.
