About the Artist

Janet Paulsen is a classically trained singer. She began her career with a full scholarship to Carnegie Mellon University and went on to perform with a variety of opera companies in New England and the Midwest. For the past few years Janet has been specializing in jazz standards and pop music performing throughout Maryland and the East Coast. Through musical interpretation and creative delivery, Janet entertains audiences in venues large and small. Her music creates a beautiful ambiance at weddings, restaurants, and private events. Janet loves working with orchestras, big bands, smaller combos, or the intimacy of a single musical instrument. She also is the female vocalist for the Hotel Paradise Orchestra which specializes in music from the 1920 and 1930s.

An evening of entertainment with Janet Paulsen is always a joyful, swinging, and deeply thoughtful occasion. With her sparkling stage persona and warm, welcoming style, she brings her heart and soul to every performance. Janet’s carefully curated musical offerings range from tributes to the greats and seasonally themed shows to explorations of the Songbook both classic and modern, all featuring ensembles of the area’s finest musicians. With a deep lyrical focus and a passion for communication, Janet connects deeply with her audiences, making every show an experience to remember.

Booking

Booking Price: $500-$1,000

This fee is based on when Janet performs as a trio, and mid-week.
The maximum fee is based on a weekend performance as a quintet.
When Janet performs with The Hotel Paradise Orchestra, there are approximately 16 musicians. This
includes violins, banjo, piano, drums, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, trombones, tuba, and conductor.
The fee depends on venue location and day of the week. The minimum fee is $150 per musician and
goes up to a maximum fee of $350 per musician.

For smaller venues, Janet and accompaniment can provide the sound equipment; an electric outlet is
required.
For larger venues, Janet can provide a stage plot if needed.
When Janet performs as a trio, such as with a keyboard and upright bass, approximately 100 square feet
are required.
When Janet performs as a quintet, approximately 200 square feet are required.

Janet is available to travel to any venue throughout Maryland.
