Matthew McCormack and Jenn Figg have been collaborating since 2009. Our backgrounds are rooted in the craft methodologies of textiles and glass, and we lean into the lush material experiences they provide. We maintain an active, experimental studio practice in tandem with our permanent public projects.
Spooks
Within the digital universe, is the GIF file. A MEME of connective tissue, it is easily made, replicated and shared through social media. It has inadvertently become an ephemeral means of social bonding, wherein visual snatches of everyday life, operating within infinite moments of repetitive gestures, and gaffes, are created in hoped for recognition through remunerative clicks, downloads, and widespread monetization.
In reflecting on the GIF, and the economies in which it is embedded, I borrowed text from the book “The Road to Unfreedom” (by historian Timothy Snyder) and in eliminating most of the words from the chapter’s first page, the dictum becomes almost Buddhist in its reflection.

I am a host, actress, and motivational speaker. I also do life coaching. I have directed fashion shows, open mic nights and networking events. My most exciting gig has been speaking in front of a group od inner city youth about the importance of self love and worth.
Lauren Amanda Garrett (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist. Ancestor work and spirituality inform Lauren's overall process. She primarily braids music, visual art, poetry, with media that includes beadwork, photography, and experimental performance art. Lauren is Federally enrolled with the Eastern Shoshone Tribe. She also embodies ancestral bloodlines of Celtic, Nordic, and Teutonic origins. Lauren's first four original "Indigenous Flower Fairies" paintings are on display at the Fort Bridger State Historic site in southwestern Wyoming.
I'm a multimedia artist and current student at MICA, based in Baltimore, where I was born and
raised. My roots and environment is where I draw the majority of my inspiration from. My work is
the reflection of me growing up in one of the deadliest cities in America, and the everlasting
impact it has on the people who live here.
