I grew up on the green hills of Southeastern Pennsylvania. My earliest memories are of playing in the sun with my siblings - chasing each other through labyrinths of trees. We regularly attended the Brandywine River Museum, "home of the Wyeths" and I lived among realistic depictions of my county by an American great, Andrew Wyeth. The beauty of Chester County, Pennsylvania continues to inspire my focus on depicting "place." Currently, I make art among the beauty of Old Lutherville and I also teach art to young children in Baltimore City Public Schools.

ArtsCentric started with a dream in 2003, when the founders dreamed of creating more performance opportunities for young African-American artists like themselves. What began as a dream slowly morphed into an experiment: a core group of young artists armed with talent and fresh ideas, committed to producing and performing. ArtsCentric forged partnerships and relationships with Baltimore/D.C. area organizations which paved the way for what would become the fiber of ArtsCentric’s mission and model: providing entertainment that is color-conscious, community-oriented, educational and enriching.

I'm an abstract artist currently working in painting, drawing, printmaking, collage, and photography. I earned my BFA, with a concentration in painting, from Kutztown University in 1996. For 20 years I was a long term art substitute teacher at Baltimore County Public Schools K-12. I'm currently practicing art full-time in my Hampden studio.
Born in 1977, artist River Irons spent an isolated childhood in Clinton, Maryland until 1991 when her family joined a cult in Kansas. After escaping the cult in 2001, Irons returned to Maryland where she now works as a multidisciplinary artist, drawing on her early life to explore constructs of race and patriarchy in classical art, architecture, and triumphalist historical narratives. Irons has shown her visual works at notable institutions including Notre Dame University of Maryland, Goucher College, and The George Washington University.
In 2006, I received my MFA from Rinehart School of Sculpture at the Maryland Institute College of Art where I was awarded MICA and Jack Kent Cooke Scholarships and a Jacob K. Javits Fellowship. Since graduating I have been an active participant in Baltimore’s local art scene. I am an adjunct III faculty member at Towson University and the Maryland Institute College of Art, as well as an independent curator. I was the director of exhibitions and curator at Goucher College for over ten years, where I programmed and mounted over 100 exhibitions.
