I have lived in this area most of my life. I am from Harpers Ferry and attended the Banner School and St. John's at Prospect Hall in Frederick. My mother taught art at Banner and at other schools. My father worked for the NPS as an architect, so I got a Masters in Architecture to work with him. I create multimedia art, books, and music with SCOD (the Sustainable Cooperative for Organic Development). We collaborate with other artists, authors, and musicians for non-profit non-competitive organic production as a primary aspect of living. My pen name is Drogo Empedocles. Blessed be.
Self-taught artist who experiments with various mediums. Mainly influenced by Hip Hop, Pop Culture, Kung fu flicks, Anime, and Anything made in the 80's.

For almost two decades, The Eric Byrd Trio (EBT), pianist/vocalist Eric Byrd, bassist Bhagwan Khalsa, and drummer Alphonso Young, Jr., have traveled the world as enthusiastic ambassadors of jazz. Rooted in swing and be-bop, The Trio also embraces gospel and the blues as core elements of their expansive performance style. Their body of work spans seven unique studio and live recordings on which they shine as a Trio and as collaborators with an expanded 8-piece ensemble they call The Eric Byrd Trio: Brother Ray Band, in tribute to The Genius of Soul icon Ray Charles.
A Maryland native and lifelong painter, I trained as a classical realist. Over the last two decades my work has transitioned to more abstract explorations. Animals and nature, ever-shifting light, and the ephemeral are some of the subjects that continue to captivate me. I maintain a studio on a small farm in Maryland that I share with horses, hounds, cats and chickens.
Staci and Bill McLauchlan’s work is a collaborative process that involves the digital transformation of their original fabric compositions into 2D wall art. Every piece they create begins with their original design of cut, pieced and sewn cotton batik fabrics. The assembled fabric composition is scanned and the image is transformed and enhanced using digital technology. The finished work is printed on aluminum using archival pigments.
Downtown Frederick is where history meets martini bars, where shop owners really do know your name, where high tech mingles with old school and where you can always find the perfect plate to satisfy your hunger.
