Michael Thomas (Las Vegas, NV) a multi-faceted performer, attended Grambling State University where he majored in music performance. Michael‘s interest in Jazz developed in the latter years at Grambling and really came into fruition when he moved to New York State. While in New York, he met Bill Saxton and Hugh Brodie, who were both instrumental in his development process in terms of encouragement and advice. Michael relocated to the DC area, where he has become an ardent participant on the DC’s jazz scene.
The Sandy Spring Slave Museum and African Art Gallery was established in 1988 to tell the story of the first free Black settlement in Montgomery County.
To truly understand the accomplishments of Sandy Spring, we must begin on the African continent, journey through the horrors of the Middle Passage, confront the realities of slavery and Jim Crow, and recognize the extraordinary contributions that Black people have made to the world, to the United States, and right here in Montgomery County, Maryland.
Artist and musician Shawn Siochain from Maryland makes paintings, digital art, kinetic sculptures, and other creations from the studio and at mural sites and festival locations. His handmade acrylic shadowboxes are 3D canvases that incorporate multiple layers and LED lights. His large scale kinetic interactive sculptures have captivated people at dozens of festivals and at Burning Man. As a former humanitarian worker with USAID, his work incorporates themes of empathy, compassion, and global connectedness.
Formosan Groove is a contemporary fusion project led by Washington, D.C.–based Taiwanese artist Shinyi Lee (Rufusion). Drawing from classic Taiwanese Hokkien songs, the project reimagines familiar melodies through groove-driven arrangements that blend jazz harmony, electronic textures, global rhythms, and traditional Asian instruments.
Payal is an accomplished choreographer and multidisciplinary artist with over two decades of experience in the performing arts. Since 2004, she has specialized in choreographing diverse sequences for international school events, Indian festivals, and private commissions.

Jessica Yirenkyi, aka Jess The Messenger (@jaydzignz), is a mixed-media visual artist and graphic designer based in the DMV area. She specializes in portraits, abstract art, and enjoys hosting community art events. Influenced by her Akan (Ghanaian) heritage, her recent works feature fabrics, metallic paint, and ink on wood panels, exploring themes of love, life, and indigenous cultural values.
