Meredith S. K. Boas (formerly Meredith S. Keating) is a life-long artist and arts advocate who comes from a long line of artists and entreprenuers. She has studied many artistic mediums, and has a bachelor's degree in Integrated Arts and four associate degrees in the disciplines of photography, graphic design and multimedia, video production, and visual communications.
Bobby Blazek is a multi-media artist working and currently residing in his hometown of Baltimore, Maryland. His work focuses on macabre storytelling through paintings, comics, and illustrations. Blazek combines biological, technological, and religious imagery while emphasizing color contrast, movement, repetition, and texture in order to convey narratives pertaining to marginalized bodies in the current state of the world. Currently he is at MICA majoring in General Fine Arts, minoring in Illustration and Sequential Art.
Artist Bio for Lea Craigie-Marshall Born in Falls Church, Va in 1976, self-taught, contemporary artist Lea showed talent from an early age. An natural creative spirit, she spent time taking private art lessons with her mother at home as well as in the mountains of scenic West Virginia with her grandmother, both artists. These strong female influences helped mold and inspire Lea to be the dynamic, multifaceted, feminist artist she is today.
I am an artist living with my family in Harford County. I received a BA in fine arts from Towson University in 1998 and have my Master's in Elementary Education. Currently I am working on my portraiture technique and creating a series of paintings retelling classic fairytales.
Annette Wilson Jones received her BFA from MICA in 1978 and, in 1980, she was hired by Beautiful Walls for Baltimore as a full-time muralist. In 1986, her work was chosen by New Museum Curator Brian Wallis for a five-person show, Sweet Land of Liberty, at School 33 Arts Center; was featured and awarded an honorarium by Baltimore City Paper for her drawing, Self-portrait as St. Sebastian, Tattooed on My Husband’s Back; and she had her first child/ spiritual guide.
Bambi is an artist who uses make-believe to tell the truth, with the deepest respect for irreverence and sticky dance floors. In addition, Bambi is a damn good storyteller, the host at haus of bambi, and the recipient of the Washington Award in dance, btw.
Commissioned by Vogue, The Kennedy Center, The City of Alexandria and the Metal Hearts Cabaret in Boston, Bambi dances the line between the too much and the just enough. (duh)
Ellyn Ross is a visual artist working in cut paper and print media. She was born in St. Mary's County, raised in the DC suburbs, and as an adult has lived all over the world, but always returns to Baltimore City. She is endlessly inspired by the natural world. Ross holds a BFA in printmaking from MICA, and an MFA in interdisciplinary fine art from the University of the Arts, London.
Summer Blake is a visionary artist specializing in mandalas, sacred geometry, and archetypal symbolism. For Summer, making art is a meditative act, providing a crucial opportunity to engage in the exploration of her own consciousness through deep introspection.
Creating art is also a deeply healing process for Summer, and one that has changed her life in a multitude of ways. By sharing her art, and encouraging others to express themselves creatively, Summer seeks to inspire others toward transformation and self-realization in their own lives.
