Blaq Girl Comics is a publishing company celebrating the power and imagination of Brown and Blaq girls through fantasy and speculative fiction. We center stories that spark joy, not trauma—uplifting narratives where our heroines thrive, explore, and reshape worlds.
As we garner more funding, our goal is to host monthly literary classes across Howard County to help preschoolers build reading and language literacy. Our mission is to nurture creativity, representation, and belonging through storytelling and arts education.

Kory Sutherland is a multimedia artist specializing in hand-cut paper. Her art practice explores family and environment through depictions of personal artifacts. A longtime educator, Kory has taught art to all ages from toddlers to adults. She has worked as a teaching artist in preschools and at the Museum of Children’s Art in Oakland, California. She studied Arts Integration with the Alameda County (CA) Office of Education and The Phillips Collection Education Department in Washington DC.
Steven currently serves as the Executive Director for the Columbia Center for Theatrical Arts. He was a theatre teacher and school admin for 18 years. Beyond directing for school productions, he has also directed and stage managed productions for Toby's Dinner Theatre and the Columbia Center for Theatrical Arts. In 2016 he directed a production of Next to Normal with Silhouette Stages that was acknowledged with the Ruby Griffith Award for Outstanding Achievement in a Musical. Most recently he directed a stage reading of a new musical, Joy Comes in the Mourning.

A lifelong Marylander, Derrick Credito is a Columbia-based community college educator who has also achieved critical acclaim as an author and musician. In the late 1990s, he started his music career performing in clubs and cafes throughout Baltimore and the Mid Atlantic region. In 2010, he completed a Master of Arts degree in Fiction at The Johns Hopkins University. His first novel The Year Of The Tsunami (2022, Wandering Bohemian Press) has received several international accolades, including London’s Reader’s House Magazine’s Editor's Choice Award of Literary Excellence.
Jon Eric is an American, contemporary stationary artist and a writer with publications in philosophy, art theory and poetry. His artistic works utilizes simple, precise lines and angles paired along mixed mediums to create the illusion of space. Eric’s minimalist abstract and surrealist styles often feature subjects of myth and societal commentary meant to play with your visual and worldly perspectives. Often borrowing influence from the natural world and masters like DaVinci and shakespeare.
