Marielle has been an arts educator for more than 10 years teaching painting and arts management to kids, teenagers and adults. She practiced as a full time artist from 2004 -2009 before pursuing her PhD where she followed advanced painting courses alongside her PhD courses for 3 years. Marielle is the founder and Editor-in- Chief for an Arts Journal, Caribbean InTransit Arts Journal with 6 published issues. Southerngal Productions is a local production company specializing in theater and film productions. It is owned by Roxanne Reid a local Prince Georges' County residence. At 80-years-old I created my first art project using a LeoApe℠ character focused on inclusiveness. The project consists of 2500 limited edition non-Gender LeoApes℠, (https://opensea.io/leoape) with Metadata on the Polygon Blockchain.
The backstory of this collection is that all characters are non-Gender. The creator’s mission is to inform, inspire, and elevate the conversation of inclusiveness through stories using non-gender characters.
I have been working as a cartoonist and art educator for 13 years, and have been working in schools for 21 years. I grew up reading superhero comics and now love making them and teaching others how to make them as well. Since receiving my degree in cartooning from The School of Visual Arts, I have taught art to all age groups, and have created artwork for clients including the Marvel and Disney.
